#1 ranked Eagles win Section VII title: Chazy 6, Minerva/Newcomb 0

Brandon Laurin scored four goals to lead Chazy to their sixth consecutive Sectional championship, as the Eagles posted a 6-0 win over Minerva/Newcomb.

Chazy jumped to a 5-0 halftime lead. Laurin scored a header from Craig Botten's free kick to start the scoring less than two minutes into the game, then scored on a penalty kick just 5:13 into the game.

Josh Barriere and Laurin added goals to extend the lead to 4-0 just past the 24-miunte mark of the first half. Then with just 33 seconds left in the half, Laurin's shot was saved by M-N goalkeeper Alex Ruzbacki, but Nelson Pelton got the rebound and scored to push the lead to 5-0.

Laurin scored the only goal of the second half, on an assist from Nathan Reynolds.

The Eagles outshot Minerva/Newcomb 12-2, with Kyle Bisonette picking up the shutout. Chazy coach Rob McAuliffe praised Bisonette and Eagle defenders Craig Botten, Justin Brothers, Brett Giroux and Cole Chaskey in his comments to the Plattsburgh Press-Republican after the game.

Chazy will play the Section X champions in the state quarterfinals.
