Chazy is holding an alumni soccer weekend, with men's and women's alumni games and the boy's team taking on Ogdensburg Free Academy.

The games all take place Saturday at George Brendler Field in Chazy. The women's alumni game is scheduled for 1:00 PM, while the Chazy/OFA boys' game is at 3:00 PM, and the men's alumni game following at 5:00 PM. There will be a reception at The Weathercock following the final game of the day.

Chazy 11, Westport 0

Chazy piled on the goals in an 11-0 rout of Westport on Wednesday September 28. Brandon Laurin led the way with three goals, while Nelson Pelton and Brett Giroux each added two goals and an assist.

Chazy outshot Westport 35-4 in the dominating road victory. Austin Santor had four saves in registering the shutout.

In the two games since their loss against Willsboro, Chazy has outscored their opponents 20-0, and outshot them 60-8.

Chazy 9, Lake Placid 0

The Eagles got back to their winning ways with a 9-0 rout of Lake Placid on Monday September 26, in their first game since their shocking defeat to Willsboro.

Chazy came out strong and scored 6 goals in the first half to settle the game early. Nelson Pelton, Hunter Dominy and Alex Sweet each scored two goals for the winners.

The Eagles outshot the visitors 25-4, with Austin Santor picking up another shutout in the goal.

Chazy's long winning streak broken by Willsboro: Warriors 3, Chazy 1.

Chazy lost a conference game for the first time since 2004, as Willsboro shocked the Eagles with a 3-1 win.

The move to the new Northern Soccer League promised to be a challenge, with the Eagles playing against bigger schools. But it was their old MVAC rivals Willsboro who were the first to defeat the defending state champions.

Clay Sherman scored on a breakaway in the first half to give the hosts the lead, and Willsboro scored on two corner kicks later in the half to grab a stunning 3-0 lead. Nathan Reynolds scored a late goal to get the Eagles back to within two goals, but it was not nearly enough.

Congrats to Willsboro for the win, and to Chazy for putting together such a long streak. Hopefully they can start another one soon, but the new league has already proven to be a tough challenge.

Eagles beat Seton Catholic 4-0.

Chazy added another victory in the new Northern Soccer League, defeating Seton Catholic 4-0 on September 19th. Brandon Laurin scored a hat trick to lead the Eagles, who raised their conference record to 3-0.

Cole Chaskey scored the other goal for Chazy. Nelson Pelton had a pair of assists, and Hunter Dominy added another. Austin Santor notched another shutout, with two saves, as the Eagles outshot Seton 20-2.

Chazy beats Saranac 4-0.

The Eagles improved their overall record to 4-1 with a 4-0 victory over Saranc on Saturday September 17. Brandon Laurin scored two goals to lead the Chazy attack.

Nelson Pelton and Nathan Reynolds also scored for Chazy. Austin Santor notched the shutout in goal, as the Eagles outshot Saranac 18-5.

Chazy 3, Elizabethtown 0

Chazy scored twice in the first five minutes, sparking a big 3-0 win over former MVAC rivals Elizabethtown.

Brandon Laurin and Hunter Dominy scored early to set the tone, and Laurin added another early in the second half for the Eagles. Austin Santor notched the shutout in goal, as Chazy outshot E-town 17-5.

Chazy 4, NAC 0

Chazy won their first game in the new Northern Soccer League, defeating Northern Adirondack 4-0 on Monday September 12th.

Jordan Barriere scored twice, and Brandon Laurin and Josh Peete added goals for the Eagles.

Chazy season under way

The defending NY State champion Chazy Eagles got their season under way last week, hosting the Frankie Garrow Memorial tournament played annually in honor of former Chazy soccer player Frankie Garrow, who passed away in a tragic car accident in 2009.

In the first game, Chazy shut out Beekmantown 2-0 to advance to the championship game.

In the finals, though, the Eagles lost a tough one to PHS, 1-0.

Video of the game is here, on the Hometown Cable network site.

Last year, Chazy lost a close game to PHS in the final of the Garrow tournament, but things worked out just fine, as that would be the only defeat of the year for Chazy, who finished with a 21-1 record and a state championship. This defeat won't be a problem if this year turns out anything like last season.

In a big change, this year Chazy will be competing in a new league, in Division II of the Northern Soccer League. The Eagles will be joined in the division by longtime MVAC rivals Elizabethtown, Westport and Willsboro, along with larger schools Lake Placid, Northern Adirondack, and Seton Catholic. The league this year will definitely be a tougher challenge, competing against the larger schools, but the Eagles should be up for the challenge.

The Press-Republican last week published a preview of the season, complete with rosters of all the teams.

The Chazy Varsity Boys Soccer Alumni Facebook page has posted a schedule for this season:
