CHAZY EAGLES STATE CHAMPIONS AGAIN!

Chazy edged Northville 1-0 on a Brandon Laurin penalty kick yesterday to win the New York state Class D boys soccer championship.

The winning goal came with 2:21 left in the game, after Northville was called for a handball. Laurin, a freshman, blasted the ball into the top corer, off the fingertips of Northville goalie Michael Van Nostrand, for the only goal of the game.

The Eagles outshot Northville 19-9 in the game.

The Eagles now have won 4 state championships in the last 6 seasons.

Coach Rob McAuliffe said "Shea Howley played a great game for us. We had to move him back to sweeper after Nathan Reynolds got hurt against Hamilton and couldn't play today.

"Austin Santor came up with some big saves both days and was an unsung hero on the weekend. And Kaleb Snide was chosen as the Final Four's Most Valuable Player."

Congratulations on a great undefeated season to Chazy, state champions again.
