Chazy defeats Willsboro for section VII championship!

Chazy wins the sectional championship again with a 2-0 win over Willsboro on November 6th.

Game summary from the Chazy Soccer Alumni Facebook page:
"Another cold, clear night setup for another close battle as the Eagles took on the Warriors in the Sectional Final on the turf field at PHS. Jitters and the turf controlled much of the game, as both teams had a hard time settling down the ball. Chazy struck first at the 31:30 mark of the first half, only to have the goal called back on a disputed offside call. However, just 18 seconds later, Kyle McCarthy converted a nice head ball off a beautiful corner kick taken by Jordan Barriere to give the Eagles the lead, 1-0.

The first half ended with Chazy holding approximately 2/3rds of the possession. The second half started out very spirited by both sides. Willsboro conceded a penalty kick at the 1:40 mark because of a ball being handled inside the 18 yard box. Jordan Barriere would take the PK, only to be thwarted by Willsboro keeper Cody Sayward.

Willsboro took that momentum and marched down the pitch and scored what they thought was the tying goal at the 4:21 mark. This goal, too, was called back on a disputed offside call by the same official who called back the earlier Chazy goal. The score remained 1-0 Chazy.

The score stayed that way, in great part due to Warrior keeper Sayward making save after save on very good scoring opportunities. Finally at the 35:58 mark in the second half, Kaleb Snide powered a shot through Sayward's hands and barely across the goal line. Insurance for the Eagles, en route to their 28th Section VII Sectional Title. Final score 2-0.

Earlier in the day, the Chazy Lady Eagles won the Section VII Class D title with a 2-0 victory of their own. Goals by Hannah Laurin and Astrid Kempainen paced the way for the unbeaten Eagles. This year, the girls have outscored their opponents 91-0-- an outstanding achievement!

Both squads go on to play the Section X Champions, yet to be determined. Way to go Eagles!
