Nolan Ryan scores 5 goals, ties state record for career scores.

Chazy ace ties record

CHAZY -- Nolan Ryan pumped in five goals to tie the state scoring record and lead Chazy to a 6-0 victory over Crown Point Friday night in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference boys' soccer.

Ryan equalled the mark of 152 career goals set by Chittenango's Jeff Knittle in 1994. The Chazy standout will get his next crack at breaking the record tonight when the Eagles host Keene at 7.

Ryan figured in all six Chazy scores Friday, assisting on Jason Baker's goal 14:34 into the contest. He then got a hat trick over a span of 11 minutes late in the first half. Ryan tacked on two more three minutes apart early in the second half.

Chazy (10-1, 7-0) outshot Crown Point 27-4 with Jacob Beeman making two saves for the Eagles. Justin Potter had 13 saves for Crown Point (2-7, 2-6).

It will be a soccer celebration in Chazy today with the girls hosting Bolton at 5 p.m. Before and during the varsity contests, there will be youth games involving Chazy teams.
