Eagles defeat Willsboro 1-0: Section VII Champions Again!

Hunter Dominy's goal early in the first half stood up as the game-winner as Chazy avenged their two regular season losses to Willsboro, winning the Section VII Class D championship 1-0 on November 5.

Along with the early goal, the key to the win was Chazy's defense keeping league-leading scorer Clay Sherman off the score sheet.

Jordan Barrierre picked up the assist on Dominy's goal. Goalkeeper Austin Santor made a big save in the second half, punching the ball away off a corner kick to preserve the shutout. Chazy outshot Willsboro 16-2. Willsboro keeper Cody Sayward made 10 saves for the Warriors.

The Sectional Championship is Chazy's fifth consecutive and 12th in the past 14 years. They will move on to meet Parrishville-Hopkinton of Section X in the Regional playoffs on Saturday November 12 at PHS field.

Chazy defeats E-town in OT, advances to Section VII Finals

Brandon Laurin scored in overtime to lift Chazy to a 1-0 victory over rivals Elizabethtown-Lewis on November 2nd.

The Eagles advance to face Willsboro for the Sectional Championship. Willsboro has defeated Chazy in both matchups this season, the only conference losses the Eagles have suffered all year.

Chazy Coach Rob McAuliffe described Laurin's winning goal in the Press-Republican game story: "Jordan Barriere had the ball in the middle and he played it wide to (Nolan) Rogers," McAuliffe said. "Rogers served a low, hard ball into the box and Laurin finished it.

"There were two very good passes and a good finish on the play."

Austin Santor made 3 saves and registered the shutout in the Chazy goal. The Eagles outshoot E-town 15-5.

This was the second consecutive year these teams battled to a dramatic finish in the sectionals. In the 2010 Section VII semifinals, Chazy defeated Elizabethtown in overtime, with Laurin scoring with 47 seconds left in regulation to tie the game.
